Just this morning

A new camera makes even the most boring, everyday things seem fun. Here's some photos from our morning.

Phin's new pirate costume for Halloween.
We got it at Old Navy last night and he had to try it on again first thing this morning.
The hanger was his hook until we get one made.

Silas eating breakfast and making some funny faces.

Playing in the container drawer.

Notice both feet off the ground.

RATS

That is the very unfortunate acronym for the Run Around the Square 5K race that I ran this morning. It starts in our neighborhood and then goes through Frick Park. It's a great course, but tough. I was pleased with my result and even more pleased to have breakfast at the Square Cafe afterwards!

Apparently, my running made Silas very tired.
He slept through our breakfast. Luckily, he had eaten earlier at home.

"Let's go watch those baseball guys..."

...As Phin would say. So we headed to the ballpark on a beautiful Friday night in Pittsburgh. They close down the Roberto Clemente Bridge so you can walk down the middle of the bridge from downtown to the stadium. We had coupons for free tickets, and it was dollar hot dog night, so we got a bargain. We met our friends, the Hommes's, there. Their daughter, Mei, is one of Phin's favorite people. They had fun yelling "strike him out, strike him out," and most of the time, they even said it when it was appropriate. We had a blast, and the Pirates even won (cue fireworks)!

Beautiful view from the stadium.

The Hommes's (center of the picture) watching the end of the game.
When asked what his favorite part of the evening was, Phin said, "the playground." (There is a playground at the stadium with a "pirate ship" as the equipment. So, of course, that is what he loved.)

My Loves

Quality time at Starbucks. Notice how both boys have food in their mouths. I'm sorry, but I really can't stand how cute they are (Caleb, too). And I love how much bluer Phin's eyes look with his tan face and washed- out blond hair!

Where the Wild Things Are

I took the kids to the zoo on Saturday for "Zoofari" (special activities for the kids and a free ride on the carousel). My friend Shannon and her kids came with us. We hadn't seen them in awhile, so it was even more fun. It was a pretty hot day, but we still managed to have a blast. Even got to see the sea lion show with the trainers.

You can see here, Phin is being his usual cooperative self.

Priming

When we got home from the pool, we put Silas down for a (short- lived) nap, and we headed upstairs to begin "painting" Phin's room. Phin's been dying to help with this. How much help he was is debatable.

Don't ask me how he ended up with t and p, but those are just the random letters he chose. We work hard on p's because it starts his name.

Pooling

Went to the pool today as a family and had a BLAST! Hottest day of the summer in P-burgh, so no better place we could think of to be.

(Not actually) Video of Silas's First(ish) steps

So when Silas started walking a few days ago, I didn't have my video camera handy. It's a decent argument for buying a new digital camera (that shoots HD video as well).

Mmmmm... chocolate!

Nothing like chocolate chip banana bread and chocolate teddy grahams to give a kid a messy face!

One fish named Moh

Our good friends, Ryan and Kara, moved to Colorado last week (sad for us), but in the process, Phin inherited their fish, Moh. So far, so good. Thanks, Woodworth's!

Walking

So here are some pictures of Silas's first steps! He hasn't done it consistently since, but still very exciting. Plus, he's stinkin' cute.
