Philadelphia Zoo

While visiting my brother and his wife in Philadelphia, Caleb and I took the boys to the Philadelphia Zoo. It's just a short walk and easy trolley ride from my brother's house. The boys were a hit on the trolley. Especially when Silas shrieked right in the ear of the guy sitting in front of us and nearly made him jump out of his seat. Luckily, he was good natured about it.

I LOVE these tortoises.

Another passerby alerted us to these baby peacocks in the bushes.

And here are the males showing off their plumage.

We have had beautiful weather-- really pleasant for Philadelphia. Next time we come, we'll be headed to the aquarium across the river in Camden!

To the Pool

We have been spending lots of our summer days so far at our "pool." I bought a season pass to our waterpark here in Pittsburgh (the kids are still free), and they have two great pools for kids! It's been so much fun, but I have no pictures. When it's just me with both kids, I don't exactly have the hands for a camera. If Caleb has a chance to go with us this summer, I'll be sure we get some pictures to share.

Phin has been much more daring in the water than last year, and enjoys the "baby" waterslides immensely (although still with some trepidation). We have a picnic lunch each day by the pool, and when we head home, both boys are usually asleep in the car before we even leave our parking spot.

I love summer!

Boys at the zoo

Caleb took Phin to the zoo. They always have so much fun!

More than one visit was made to Phin's favorite, the Komodo dragon.
Intently watching the "dragon." Apparently, he moved around a lot-- he never moves.

Photo shoot with the sea lion statue and Phin's new shark. They had to turn around for the second picture because, in the first, Phin was worried that the sea lion wasn't facing the right way.

Our zoo's new baby sea lion.

A picnic of McDonald's on the hood of the Jeep waiting for trains to come.
(They never came.)

Updated

Ok, so you all are officially updated! I posted so many photos that you have to go to older posts at the bottom of the page to see all the new posts. Silas is crawling, wishing he could walk, and talking like crazy. He walks along the couch, Phin's train table, anything he can hold onto. His first tooth has broken through!

Busy week

A few days after we got back from Kansas, my sister and her three kids came up to visit from Florida. We took them to Sandcastle (our waterpark), the zoo, the natural history museum, and, best of all, Idlewild (an amusement park, see photos below).

Fun at Great Grandma's.
Phin even slept over there with his cousins out on the porch one night.

Phin also had his zoo "camp" this week. Three days this week we went for an hour long class.
This is his teacher, Robin, holding a hedgehog, which we got to pet!

After class on Friday, we got to see our zoo's new baby sea lion.
